Welcome to Banjara Times!

PROUD TO BE A GOAAR!

Hello, everyone! Thanks for visiting Banjara Times. I am Om Parkash Kamal,  Editor, Banjara Times (Voice of Goaars worldwide). We believe Goaars of India known as Banjaras, Lambanis, Bazigars, Lubanas, Sirkiband, Gawaria, Gawar, Lambadas, Gor, Vanjari, Vanzaras, Sindhi Guaars and many others are from same Dynasty.

They have same customs, same Goaar Boli and same Gotras all over India. They don't have any Sections and Sub-Sections. They are Equal and they are GOAARS. No matter Kaurs call us with different names. But we are all Goaars, nothing else.  One more thing about Banjara Times, we are not belonging to any Group/Organisation, any Religion and any  Political Party. We have respect for all, who are working for the development of Goaars. Long Live Goaar Unity!

A Discussion: Vanjari Vs. Banjaras of Maharashtra

The Vanjari or Vanzaras are totally different than Gors: Nihalsing B. Rathod

Hi Kamal,

This is Nihalsing B. Rathod, a student of Government Law College, Mumbai, Maharashtra.

it was pleasure to find, Banjara Times is doing great, I must congratulate team of Banjara Times for the same.

the very first thing i noticed in your introduction itself, was the use of different names for Banjaras through out the territory of India. It is an excellent research of yours, but still i have complain about two name viz. Vanjari and Vanzaras.

Sir, If you are stating so in the context that, these two names are used in Maharashtra, then i vehemently clarify that, it is not so.

The Vanjari or Vanzaras are totally different than gors and hold, totally different political and social status as well as, extreme variations in the culture, rituals and traditions.

very sadly I am bringing this to your attention-  in 90's same community took undue advantage of resemblance in name and demanded share in the reservation. which was totally a greedy act. where gors from maharashtra had to fight on every front to stop such discrimination and injustice but to no use, and since then the quota meant for the nomads is divided with the non-nomads i.e., Vanjaris

Banjaras have always been generous and justice loving people though out the history and by Seva's grace it will continue forever. its one of our marvelous characteristic, for which we are renown in society, and i'm proud for that.
but when we are being discriminated just because of resemblance in the name then we should resolve to scratch off this name from our history, literature and our day to day use, so that they dont take such undue advantage at least henceforth,

hope you will consider my request and strike it off from all the relevant context.

Reservation Goaar Samaj Ko Todti Hai Aur Banjara Times Website Goaar Samaj Ko Jodti Hai!

Nihal Singh Ji Thanks for visiting Banjara Times.

Your issue is very common in all states. I mean to say almost every state is effected with this kind of issue.

For example: I am Bazigar from Punjab. In my state Bazigars are recognized as Scheduled Caste. In same state Banjaras, Lubanas, Gavar, Gavaria recognized as Backward Classes.

Time to Time Lubanas of Punjab are trying to present their case for inclusion in SC list. For this they are saying their language is same as Bazigars because elders of Lubanas were speaking Lubanki Boli, which was same to Goaar Boli. But in these days they don't have any live person who can speak Lubanki in Punjab.

Same like you people, in Punjab, Bazigars don't like the inclusion of Lubanas in SC list. Even some people from Lubana Cast don't like this kind of comparison too, like someone say "Bazigars and Lubanas are same cast". They get angry with this kind of comparison. According to those Lubanas, "Lubanas are superior than Bazigars". They think Bazigar is very poor cast.

In the process of progress, Lubanas of Punjab stop speaking Lubanki i.e. Goaar Boli. Second important thing happened to them is due to the influence of Sikh Religion they stop going to Haridwar. So Panda Wahis don't have any mention of Lubanas from Punjab. In this process they forgot about their real Gotras like Dharamsot, Muchhaal, Binjhrawat, Bartia and they started their own Gotras on the name of their elders etc. and those gotras are totally different from Goaars.

Some leaders of Lubanas, sometimes appear in the national level meetings of Banjaras. They have their own interests when they attended National Meetings of Banjaras but in Punjab they don't have any activity for the Unity of Goaars.

In your case, you are saying, Vanjari or Vanzaras are different from Banjaras. According to my knowledge, Vanjari, Vanzaras, Banjaras, Lambani, Lambadas, Bazigars, Lubanas and Sirkibands are Goaars.

We started Banjara Times website for the unity of Goaars. Your issue is totally against the idea of creation of Banjara Times website.

Reservation created too many different castes in India. Thats why in India 6000 castes exist and Goaars have near about 36 different names in different states.

Reservation Goaar Samaj Ko Todti Hai Aur Banjara Times Website Goaar Samaj Ko Jodti Hai!

Your views and opinions are welcome. It is a long time pending issue, so we should debate on this issue.

With Regards,

LUDHIANA, September 3, 2010 (Vaivasvat Venkat): Lakhwinder Wadali more known for his Sufi singing that has descended down to him from his father Puran Chand Wadali is now trying his hands successfully in acting. Anticipating a good response from the viewers of the movie, "Chhevan Dariya", the youngman is excited for getting an offer of working in a Hindi movie with Preiti Zinta.

Lakhwinder Wadali, who was in the city on Friday for the promotion of his movie "Chhevan Dariya" in which he is playing a lead role said that he was very happy with his experience as an actor and a transformation from a singer to an actor.

"Chhevan Dariya is the second movie in which I have got a chance to act and I have really liked this small journey that has really attracted me towards acting," said Lakhwinder Wadali.

He further informed that it was a great experience working with Bollywood star badman Gulshan Grover, who is in fact a very good human being as he taught him a lot. "In the very opening scene of the movie I was to deliver a dialogue and it took me three takes as every time I saw him I used to forget the dialogues," Lakhwinder Wadali said. He then advised me to see him as a character of the old man he was playing in the movie and not as Gulshan Grover and the things finally worked out, he said.

Accepting he was not a seasoned actor as yet, Wadali said that he had started liking acting and he was enjoying the journey. He happily informed that he had recently got an offer to work in Hindi movie along side Preity Zinta and Arshad Warsi about which he was very excited.

However, Wadali clarified that his interest in acting was no where going to have any impact on singing as for the movie ?Chevan Daria? itself he had sung two songs. "I am also going to launch my album Jugni in a short time. Singing is my heart and soul and I will never ever give it up," added Lakhwinder Wadali. (With thanks from the "Times of India")

May the Banjaras get Strong Leadership in the field of Social, Political and Religious: Bhausing Pawar, Mumbai

Dear Kamal ji

Jai Sevalal !!!

I am Bhausing Pawar from Mumbai, Maharashtra (Native Place-Telgawhan, Tal. Darwha Dist.Yavatmal, Maharashtra.) and currently serving as an Assisstant Commissioner Of Sales Tax in the Department of Sales Tax, Maharashtra State, Mumbai.

You may definitely know the joy of realizing a special things in life. The same has happened to me when I typed 'Banjara" in google search and to my surprise, at the click of mouse I got 'banjaratimes .com'. This is amazing! I kept navigating through the website the whole day as it is holiday today.

I heartily congratulate you to make such an International Platform available to all we Goar Bhais. Being a part of the Civilized society and witnessing the evolution, the mankind has made in the 21st century, it is very essential to leap forward in the vertical as well as horizontal direction of the growth.

By launching this platform, you have made tremendous service to the Banjaras of the world especially Indians. I am aware that the Colourful and Enthusiastic Banjaras have made their feel in all spheres of life in India and around the world. The banjaras have always remained as Pillars and posts in keeping Indias Cultural and social values intact till today. Now we are feeling our presence in all spheres of development including Government, Public, Private Sectors... nationally and internationally.

At the same time I must register my concern over the growing reluctance in the field of school education and higher education among the adolescent especially among the children of illiterate farmers and farm workers.

We are having political idols such as Late Vasantrao Naik and great administrator like Late Sudhakarrao Naik (Both were the Chief Minister of Maharashtra State of their times and may always be remembered for their work). I look forward that "May the Banjaras get STRONG LEADERSHIP  in the field of Social, Political, and Religious" so that we can progress in those fields including Civil Administration, Science and Technology.

I have gone through the mails you received. There should not be any politics among ourselves. we must encourage the good things for the betterment of the society. I feel that the educated, intelligent youth from all leading fields within the nation and international should come forward , share such world wide platform and do something for our brothers and sisters who couldnot manage to keep pace with the time.

I am eagerly waiting for the response.
my email ID:  bhausing.pawar@rediffmail.com

Thank you.

From,
Bhausing Pawar, Mumbai.

We  at Noor Nissan Productions have gone ahead and have taken the audience into the real journey into the land of five rivers which ultimately explores the most vital element of the land-“Chhevan Dariya”( The Sixth River)

‘Chhevan Dariya’, the expression is commonly associated with the abundance of drugs and alcohol that permeates the land of five rivers. Punjabis have always felt themselves to be the proud natives of the land of five rivers – from where has emerged this destructive sixth river? The film ‘Chhevan Dariya’ (The Sixth River) is a loud and clear clarion call to the positivity, fortitude and the spirit of Chardhikala of those born in the land of five rivers to take up cudgels against the destructive forces rampant in their dear land.

The story begins with the pouring in of the guests at Deedar Singh’s (Gulshan Grover) haveli. The occasion is the marriage of a girl with whose grandfather Deedar Singh had a close friendship. This brings in people from Philadelphia and Punjab. Soon, Carol (Christa Cannon)), a friend of Fateh (Manpreet Singh), from US also joins them by sheer coincidence. Fateh’s friend, Dev (Lakhvinder Wadali) gets attracted to Carol and thus love starts blooming. Fateh and Dev’s childhood friend, Reet (Navneet Kaur), a TV journalist, shares some close moments with Fateh and their relationship gets strengthened as the story develops.

The film  depicts  how the drug abuse can destroy friends and how a hapless old man is left alone without a family. The film also highlights the malady of poor leadership and stresses the need of quality leaders. For this purpose Deedar Singh evolves a novel method to produce role models.

Carol is doing research on the present day Punjab. There is strong mafia involving politicians, small and big drug peddlers with nefarious designs, out to grab the agricultural land in the garb of industrial development. There is a considerable melodrama in this aspect and ultimately they are exposed. However it takes  toll on Carol’s life.

The film is dotted with nuances of Punjabi folk songs and dances and there are a couple of Shabads which are a delight for the soul. Baba Punjaba’s (Rana Ranbir) role is dotted with powerful dialogues which reveal the pain and agony of the people of the once prosperous state. The film is a treat for the young and the old alike and has points for all the walks of life, be it a common man, a poor person, an industrialist or a farmer.

News of Samaj Sudhar meeting of Punjabi Goaars: Reaction from Dr. Pandu Naik, Bangalore

Dear Mr. Kamal

I was going through the news of Samaj Sudhar meeting of Punjabi Goaars. I am happy to see so much of forward thinking among Goaars of Punjab.

My suggestions are as under. I request you to pass on this message to Mr Ritesh who has reported the news.

1) The quotes under each photo looks good. Since they are punjabi words written in English alphabets, all of us cannot understand them. Please write in English so that non-Punjabi Goaars can also benefit.

2) The following may be household words for all of you in Punjab but rest of us have not heard of what these words are. The reporters/editors may consider  describing such terms in few lines so that we all can understand.

Fazool Kharchi
PANJEERI
SHAGUN
MILNI

3) Rest is fine. Thanks all of you for communicating.

Pandu Naik Ph.D.
